Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil Review - Selfcare on Sundays
I would not be interested in skincare if it were not for the brand Mad Hippie, and to take it a step further, I would not be using the correct skincare for my skin type had I not been introduced to this oil (Antioxidant Facial Oil) by a dear friend. For these reasons, word of mouth sometimes IS the best way to find what you need, and this brand will always stay near to my heart. I began testing this product when I moved from Seattle to Los Angeles. Why? I desperately wanted a cleaner natural product safe for sensitive acne-prone skin with a damaged barrier, all while adjusting my skin to a drastic weather change. I had no sensitivity or irritation, and using the serum just once a day in the morning cleared all my acne and rebuilt my barrier; today, I recommend this oil to ANYONE with any skin type. After using it for years and in various climates, I have no reason to award this product with anything other than five stars.
Why Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil Gets 5/5 Stars - Acneic Skin Edition
I developed a face full of acne in third grade. To make matters worse, I spent the next seventeen years trying to make it disappear. My mother took me to a medical dermatologist during those years when matters only worsened. I was sent away after one fifteen-minute appointment with a huge bill that said I had "normal hormonal teen acne." I regret taking the sulfur benzol peroxide wash, acne pill, and pimple-popping tool prescription from the dermatologist.
As it turns out, I am allergic to sulfur, and benzol peroxide is exceptionally harsh, drying, irritating and painful when misused or in a high concentration. I am fine now; there is nothing wrong with seeing a licensed medical professional for skin; I encourage it, but I can only advise or provide an honest full product review if I share my lifelong experience with acne and sensitive skin, to be fair. Medical professionals and estheticians have come a long way in product research and curriculum since the early 2000s. If you suffer from a severe skin condition or acne and have tried acne products that do not work, an esthetician would be a significant next step.
Remember that everyone has different and unique experiences with their skin journey, not to mention our skin changes with environment, stress, age, weather, etc. As a child and teen, I had oily skin; as an adult, I have learned that would have been an easier problem to solve knowing what I do now about allergens, ingredients, and acne. Today I describe my skin as combination sensitive.
How Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil Works for Acneic & Sensitive Skin
Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil works for sensitive acne skin. The best part about this fact is that the product is not designed or advertised for this purpose (as far as I can tell.) One day, my friend and I discussed how cheap skincare products burn my skin and why. She told me she started making her household cleaning products for this reason. Popular or trending products on today's market at a lower price point can sometimes contain ingredients that cause your skin or body to react adversely over time. Mad Hippie products (skincare, cosmetics, and sun care) are certified cruelty-free & vegan by both Leaping Bunny and PETA. Not only that, but all their products are GMO-free and do not contain any ingredients on the Prop 65 list.
How quickly can you see results from Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil?
I began testing this product on my face once daily (2-3 drops), three days a week. At first, I felt uncomfortable putting "oil" on my oily skin. For years, skincare professionals told me not to add oil to oil. I remember asking my friend who recommended the product to me if "this is supposed to work?" I was so skeptical. She replied with no hesitation, "Just keep using it." Thank god I did, and thank god she was right. Not even a week into using the oil, I noticed a dramatic difference in my skin. First, I saw my skin glow! I was using a gentle cleanser at the time, water, and this facial oil only. I know that sounds crazy right? I was so focused on my acne I didn't know then what I know now. And if you can believe it, after a month of use, my skin had not one acne spot in sight for the first time since I was a child. I could have cried with happiness.
Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil Review in Conclusion
The brand Mad Hippie will always be a part of my skincare shelf and will remain a 5/5 star review with Selfcare on Sundays. To take it further, I highly recommend the Vitamin C Serum! Another excellent choice for reducing acne and acne scarring. If you are looking for a great gift option for a teen or simply new to skincare, add this brand to your list!
